This week, I've found some of the juiciest gossip from the celebrity universe. Here's the lowdown from Tinseltown.
It seems that Johnny Depp loves Disney, and what a profitable match it will be. Variety magazine covered the industry showcase that unveiled the upcoming Disney projects, and Mr. Depp will be present in three films for the House of Mouse. He is slated to return as Captain Jack Sparrow in the fourth installment of the billion-dollar "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise and playing the part of Tonto in the film adaptation of "The Lone Ranger," with George Clooney as the title character. The best news of all is another partnership with his long-time friend, Tim Burton, in a 3D film version of the "Alice in Wonderland," with Johnny as The Mad Hatter, which will certainly be a tea party, I would like to go to!
Guess who finally admitted he was gay? Clay Aikin! We all saw that one coming, but it is still causing a media sensation. He made the announcement in People magazine much like Lance Bass did last year. In the interview, he admitted to coming out to his mom about four years ago and decided to make it public after the birth of his son, Parker, and hopes to raise him "not to lie or to hide things." All the Claymates around the world are hoping Lil' Aikin will inspire a new album from his proud papa.
These days, it is becoming more and more common for the celebrity to turn into the politician. Such was the case with Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and our former governor, Jesse Ventura. Another celeb has put his hat in for a political office in the great state of Minnesota: SNL Alumni Al Franken. He will be in Duluth on Oct. 16 to be present at a debate against incumbent, Norm Coleman, for the open spot in the Senate race. Franken's famous character, Stuart Smalley, on SNL said, "I'm good enough. I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!" He will have to wait until the election results in November to see if that is true.
