If you manage the $6 cover, Toby Churchill (of The Alrights) will open the show at 8 p.m.
When it comes to venues in Duluth, the duo has played "all of them," guitarist Ian Alexy said, "except for the DECC [Duluth Entertainment Convention Center]." They chose Beaner's to release their new album because it is "such an intimate space," Alexy said.
"One for the Time Capsule" is an eight song EP recorded over the last five years, Alexy said, and it is experimental for the duo because it contains electronic loops mixed with acoustic guitar. The brothers also plan to release another full-length album this spring.
Their music is described as acoustic folk/blues, but this genre stamp does not fully encompass every element of the brothers' very unique musical combination, according to their Web site. To give the Hobo Nephews a listen and judge them for your self swing onto hobonephews.com (a work in progress) or myspace.com/hobonephewsofunclefrank.
The brothers were also eager to describe their most expensive tour to date, which begins in December as they travel to the West Coast with the band Trampled by Turtles.
Excited as they were, Alexy didn't forget to mention that leaving Minnesota also means leaving their homes. Teague lives just 30 minutes southeast of Duluth in Holyoke, Minn., and Ian has lived in Duluth for three years.
Their ambition for touring is matched only by Alexy's affection for our city. "[Duluth is] close to my heart. I love Duluth-you can quote me on that," he said.
